Guidance of the Qur'an at the Time That It Was Not Completed Yet
Question:
salaam,
You have mentioned 5;15-16 in your commentary on surah Fatihah to illustrate that hidayat in essence is Quran. My question is that Quran was completed over 23 years and by the time Quran was complete it was time for prophet pbuh to leave this world. So for those first Companions of prophet pbuh and believers who in essence have been called sabiqoon i avaleen tonly a portion of Quran was available. So for them with the highest sttaus after prophets what was the source of hidayat.
Answer:
Salam,
When we say the Qur’an, are we talking about a teaching text book? If this is the case then certainly your observation will be correct, meaning, those who did not see the whole Qur’an did not get the whole guidance.
The Qu’an however is not in the form of a text book. It is in the form of an oration. This is an oration that like most other orations repeats the main points over and over. This is oration that is basically a ‘reminder’ rather than an introduction to something totally new.
You see that the premises of the religion of Islam are being repeated over and over in the Qur’an. For one who is ready for guidance, a few verses of the Qur’an will be enough.
